New books, sharpened pencils, and the smell of breakfast cooking are our favorite heralds of the start of the fall semester. We look forward to welcoming friends old and new to kick off this year’s First Friday Breakfast series at E.S. Good Barn as we learn the sweet story of bee keeping and honey production in Kentucky.
As our team at The Food Connection takes the reigns of this beloved community event, you may notice a few changes. You’ll meet our first Sustainability Outreach intern, Mackenzie Gibson, as she greets you at the door and guides you through a fast and painless digital sign-in process. Our Chef Tanya Whitehouse will serve up fresh, local, and seasonal breakfast with the help of dedicated and local-food loving volunteers. If you sign up for our new mailing list, you can expect monthly reminders of upcoming breakfasts, and also receive information on other Food Connection events, if you so choose. You can also follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter with the handle @UKFoodConnect for regular updates, fun videos, and all things local agro-food systems.
Speaking of volunteers, if you’d like to join the fun, please email to learn about joining the FFB crew. We’re always looking for early risers who like to brew coffee or scramble eggs. We’re even more grateful for people who know their way around a sink of dishes.
We’re grateful to our speakers who have offered their time and expertise to helps us continue to learn and grow as a local agro-food community. Our great thanks also to the years of hard work of organizers of the past 6 years of First Friday Breakfasts who have built this valuable community event.
