As part of our mission to promote vibrant and sustainable food and farm systems in Kentucky, we work with on and off-campus partners to develop and deliver kitchen-based programs that foster learning related to local and sustainable food systems from farm to fork.

The following program offerings work well in the learning kitchen space:

  • TFC lecture (ONLY no food) for class field trip or organization meeting (1-3 hours, maximum capacity 45) - informational lecture by TFC staff or a meeting of a university organization related to food or food systems, a food systems strategic partner, or other food systems related meeting, includes drink service, $36 flat fee.
  • Lecture and food demonstration (50 - 75 minutes) - lecture about food systems topic and brief cooking demonstration with a small sample (maximum capacity 45), $75 flat fee.
  • Brief hands on cooking class (75 minutes) - brief introduction to the learning kitchen and creating one of a choice of seasonal quick dishes (maximum capacity 25), $265 flat fee.
  • Long, hands-on cooking class  (2 - 3 hours) - brief introduction to the Food Connection, kitchen safety, and sanitation followed by a hands-on cooking class, sit down together to a small meal (maximum capacity 25), $625 flat fee.

The kitchen is available for events Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm. The Food Connection schedules many of our own events throughout semesters so please have several dates in mind for your event. Multiple events are scheduled each week, so if you need access to the kitchen prior to your event please schedule that in advance also.
